Available Work

A friend and fellow artist expressed recently during a studio visit that she was taken with the “complexity of light” in my paintings. Another visitor remarked that my paintings were both “sensuous and soulful”. I love these observations.

The layer upon layer of marks, lines, and shapes, as the painting comes into being, creates a rich history, that is light-filled and complex To be able to have uninterrupted time, to find a place of quiet within myself, to translate the beauty that exists in the world around me, is truly a gift.

I never feel more alive than when I step into my studio. To have even the briefest moments in the light of day to look at a piece, one that I started the night before, can be so fruitful. To look again and to really see, to engage and to perhaps recognize a shape that is barely visible, but that could be emphasized, or, to see a green shape that wants to have another green shape nearby, perhaps, but with more yellow, or a deep burgundy to complement the green,  or, to see blank areas that long to be activated with bold lines, these are the magical moments to me. All these intuitions are thrilling because the possibilities of what to do next are wide open. I can try this shape or that line, and even if decisions change throughout the course of the painting, the subtle history of what has gone before only adds to the richness of the piece. Such is the nature of painting. I love it..

I have lots of new work available here, in my studio, and work also at Penland Gallery, Gallery164, and Mirrorball Gallery.

Words From Collectors

“Before putting a name to any kind of object, I first see it as color, shape, line, and movement. These foundational qualities are inherently moving to me, perhaps as much as the object itself. As a deeply intuitive person, I enjoy the process of making decisions and exploring discoveries moment by moment, rather than knowing the destination or even the way forward. This, to me, is the exciting process that brings the work to life.”
